FIRST BLOG POST:

My English class experience has been very interesting. From first grade to eight grade English class to me was viewed as that one class where we really wouldn't do anything except grammar and the occasional, probably once a year, paper. When I went to U of D as a freshman, English class started to ramp up since it is high school and I had to write papers and read books that I would be tested on. The reading books and being tested on was a rarity back in elementary school as it mostly focused on grammar. All the years of English have led me to my final year at U of D where I will be taking AP English and continuing that pursuit and desire for knowledge.

As early as a I can remember I have been reading. Back in elementary school we had this monthly program called Book Bank where you would record what books you had read and add up the total number of pages that you had read this month. I remember in 4th grade reading something like 20,000, yes 20,000, pages in one month. I had a lot of time as a little kid. I also remember that for pretty much every year I would be called down to get the prize for reading the most books during the year which was a $5 Blockbuster gift card. So in short I really enjoy reading and I do a lot of reading in and out of school.

I am hoping to be able to read some books that were not on my To-Read list and to get a better understanding of modern authors. It is also a reason for me to read Fiction because I read a lot of Non-Fiction and I really enjoy Biographies. So taking this class will let me read some Fiction books that I would not have read for a least a year as I finish the books on my To-Read list.
